Allison Black

About Me

Hello. And welcome.

My name is Allison Black and I was born and raised in South Florida.  Yes, a true Floridian.  Note the freckles and lack of tan.  I have a BA in Music from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. I had a relatively normal life until I discovered improvisation and everything changed.  For nearly 15 years now, I have been acting, improvising and performing in Chicago on stage, in the sound booth, in commercials and film.

My focus is to do work that matters, touches people, and strives to connect us more deeply to one another.

And to laugh.  Because, in this world, you gotta laugh.

Acting & Improvisation

Chicago Med: I appeared as Co-Star, Sue Marshall, in the season opener episode for Chicago Med on NBC! It aired 9-26-2018 at 7:00 PM CST/8:00 PM EST.

For the past 6+ years, I have been performing with Improvised Jane Austen, and we just completed at run at the Annoyance Theatre, and a run at the McKaw Theatre in Chicago.  Starting October 16th, we will begin a run at the  iO Theatre in their Mission Theatre - Tuesday nights at 8:00 PM CST.

Voice Over

I just finished recording an animation project - Mrs. Meyers Garden Compassion Project voicing "Cloud". The Compassion Project is a K-3 Children's Curriculum that will be taught in the US this fall. Ellen DeGeneres promoted this project on her show this September.  Click here to link to the animated video.

I am currently narrating a novel set in Ireland for Audible and am voicing narration projects for a variety of fortune 500 companies.

I will be dancing again in the The Nut Tapper at The Old Town School of Folk Music.  The shows are scheduled for November 25th, December 6th and 7th.

Just this past June, I (hoofer-style tap) danced "Breezin" in a quintet in the sold-out National Tap Appreciation Day show at Old Town School of Folk Music.
